9/11 Tribute - 10 Year Anniversary

Ten years later, we remember where we were on September 11, 2001. We remember the disbelief we experienced. We remember watching intensely as events took place and we prayed for victims, heroes and our leaders.

Our nation had changed and in some ways become a better country. In some ways we're still feeling the effects of horrific acts of misguided extremists. As we remember, we hope our fellow Americans will reflect and appreciate the great country we have and recognize the sacrifices of the brave men and women who protect our freedoms.

September 11

On September 11, 2001, 4 coordinated attacks on the United States of America marked the beginning of an era. 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jets. The hijackers intentionally crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City; both towers collapsed within two hours. Hijackers crashed a third plane into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. When passengers attempted to take control of the fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, it crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, preventing it from reaching its intended target in Washington, D.C. Nearly 3,000 died in the attacks.
