Politician: Rick Perry

James Richard Perry, more known to us as Rick Perry was born on March 4, 1950. He became the 47th Governor of Texas in 2000. Before this he was the Lieutenant Governor of Texas from 1998. She became the Governor when the Governor of Texas at that time, George W. Bush resigned to take over as president of the United States. He has been elected to 3 full gubernatorial terms and has had more than 10 years of governorship if Texas for without a break. Rick Perry is also running for the Republican nomination for the President of the United States in 2012.

Born in Paint Creek, Perry is a 5th generation Texan. He was born to ranchers and the interest in politics sparked when he was taken to the funeral of U.S. Representative Sam Rayburn. As part of the boy scouts, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and he also holds the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. After graduating from Paint Creek High School, he attended the Texas A&M University where he was part of Corps of Cadets and Alpha Gamma Rho. 

In 1984, the political career of Perry really started when he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives from District 64 as a Democrat. He is also known to have supported and campaigned for Al Gore in the presidential elections.
