Politician: Sarah Palin

Sarah Louise Palin was born on February 11, 1964 and she has many firsts to her credit. She was the Republican Party nominee for Vice President in the presidential elections of 2008. This was the first time that an Alaskan was able to get a national ticket for a major party. She was also the first Republican woman nominated for Vice Presidency. She was also the youngest person and the first woman to be appointed as the Governor of Alaska. 

Palin became the mayor of Wasilla in 1996 and in 20006 she had an unsuccessful run for lieutenant governor. However, she was appointed as the Chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Convention Commission.   Between 2006 and 2009, she served as Governor, post which she resigned to become a part of the Tea Party movement. 

Palin is also the author of a book – Going Rogue; a book that has sold more than a million copies. This makes the book one out of a total of four political memoirs that have sold more than a million copies. Sarah Palin also hosts a television show called Sarah Palin’s Alaska and has been doing so since January 2010. Recently a documentary about Palin’s career has also been released called The Undefeated.
